Vision Art Aluminium transformed an underutilized second-floor area of this Rockaway, New Jersey home into a bright lakefront sunroom and private workspace designed for creativity, productivity, and year-round comfort.

The homeowner, a professional writer, wanted a dedicated office that would take full advantage of the property’s panoramic lake views. The original plan was to enclose a portion of the first floor. However, after evaluating the home and discussing the client’s goals, our team recommended utilizing the second-floor location instead.

This design provided significantly better views, greater privacy, and a more practical and cost-effective solution while allowing the new room to feel naturally connected to the surrounding landscape.

Following our signature “More Glass, Less Frame” design philosophy, Vision Art Aluminium engineered a custom aluminum and glass enclosure featuring oversized panoramic picture windows, expansive sliding window systems, and slim-profile framing. The large glass openings maximize natural daylight and create uninterrupted views of the lake and surrounding greenery.

The custom window and door package included a 106⅞″ × 79″ aluminum bi-fold door, a 119½″ × 84⅞″ panoramic picture window assembly, a 136″ × 47⅜″ sliding window system, and an additional 92½″ × 47⅝″ sliding window system.

The operable sliding windows were supplied with fitted insect screens, allowing the homeowner to enjoy fresh air and natural ventilation while helping keep insects outside.

To create a seamless connection between the existing living area and the new workspace, we installed the custom aluminum bi-fold door between the kitchen and the lakefront office. When fully opened, the folding panels create a wide passage that allows natural light and waterfront views to extend deeper into the home. When closed, the system provides separation and privacy for focused work.

Energy-efficient insulated glazing helps improve interior comfort throughout the seasons, while the durable aluminum framing provides a clean architectural appearance and long-term performance.
