Sunrooms and solariums are similar, but they each offer different advantages and disadvantages. When it comes to a sunroom, the pros include: year round use (especially with an all-season thermal room, often functional windows, low maintenance, and versatility. Sunrooms can serve as a bedroom, a game room, or a breakfast nook, among other things. On the side of cons, they don’t offer a full view of the sky, though you can have skylights installed.

Solariums, on the other hand, show the sky as the ceiling, so that’s one of the biggest pros. However, with that beauty comes high maintenance. You’ll have to clean the glass of bird droppings, pollen, and debris. In addition to the con of high maintenance, solariums are also much more expensive and less energy efficient, so they tend to be more expensive in the long run, as well.

Having a sunroom installed does not mean losing out on optimal sunlight. Sunspace Texas offers several sunroom templates, from screen rooms to all-season thermal rooms. We can even add skylights and other features to add even more sun to the room. But you’ll be able to enjoy indoor comfort as you take in these outdoor views. are often considered sunrooms, but they are in fact somewhat different. Solariums are made up almost completely of glass, with glass walls and a glass roof. The point of a solarium is to let in as much sunlight as possible while still being indoors. Because everything is enclosed, you can enjoy the weather without the adverse effects such as rain, snow, wind, and debris. Solariums are also sometimes called conservatories.

The location of your addition may make a difference in its aesthetics and function. Consider whether you’re placing the addition in the path of the sunrise and sunset, how much space you’ll have and how much privacy you want.

A green house typically has one use: plants, not really people. Exposure to the sun is key and it’s very helpful to plants for the green house to face south giving it the most sunshine of any other exposure. Usually, sunshine and humidity make this baby very friendly to plants however not necessarily to people. High humidity can be uncomfortable for people

A greenhouse is specifically designed for planting and cultivating. Some hobby gardeners may use their greenhouses to experiment with different types of plant breeding, whether at the home greenhouse level or more professionally using a production greenhouse. More than any other type of sunny room, the type of greenhouse you decide on will largely involve your space and budget.

SOLARIUM: the solarium is about the same as the above only it has a glass roof.

Solariums can be considered sunrooms and hence the confusion. However, they are different from one another. Sunrooms have solid roofs and solariums do not. The object of the solarium is to let in as much sun as possible while remaining, basically, an indoor space. Solariums are often called conservatories. They’re grand, for sure.

In general, a lower budget may be better suited to a sunroom and a higher budget to a solarium. However, you can customize each type to fit a variety of budgets. Consider several configuration options to get the full scope of what you can do.

Sunrooms are better for people who don’t want the upkeep of a fully enclosed glass space. The roof of a sunroom can be cared for like the rest of the house. The windows simply need to be checked for proper sealing.
For those converting part of their home on a budget, sunrooms are the best option, as they’re more of a simple home remodel.

Consider whether you’re looking for something streamlined and functional or something opulent. Customization can help you match either a sunroom or solarium to your goals and home architecture.

If you have an idea of how you’d like to use your space, keep it in mind when making your decision. For a room that feels more like a living area, consider a solarium. For a patio-like space with extra protection, opt for a sunroom.

You have a newspaper in your lap…the Sunday Times…maybe. On a side table you have your first cup of coffee with that delicious aroma quaffing through the air. Inhale. Hmmm…exhale, take it all in. The sun is bright and warm, the indoor plants are soaking it in and several of them are in bloom…what a delicious moment after a stressful, busy week.

Because you opted for a sunroom, no matter what, there are no insects buzzing about, the temperature is perfect because your sunroom is climate controlled, maybe there’s snow on the ground and on the tree branches and outdoor spring flowers are just peeking their heads through the snow.

Music is Playing Softy. What’s Your Pleasure?

The wind is not blowing your newspaper and you are toasty warm. Life is rich, peaceful, luxurious…how did this happen?

Sunrooms are meant to let in sunlight, of course, however…how much sun do you want?
We have more FAQ for you to ask yourself if you decide a sunroom is for you.

If it’s meant to enhance your busy life with recreation time, a reading room, a family room, an office, a plant room, an exercise room, etc etc etc before you have one built, let’s ask you FAQ questions you might never have thought of:

1. What’s the purpose/use of the room to be?

2. How much sun do you want? Think about this because anything in real estate suggests you always consider these top three salient points:

Why? Because if it’s a plant room you want a different exposure than if you want an addition to living space. If you want plants…think southern exposure, it being the exposure that provides the most sunlight. This will be a warmer direction because you get the most sun possible. Think about climate control here.
If you are enhancing your lifestyle let the sunroom face the amount of sunlight you want and need for your plants and think deeply about YOUR COMFORT…you are enhancing your lifestyle and that of your family.

3. How much time will you spend in your sunroom? If you make great decisions about what you want and what you need, how much time you spend may be more than you think. Let’s stress comfort here. Vision Art Aluminum will help with this.

4. What’s the view like? Please stand/sit where you want that sunroom or you think you do and just stay put for 15-30 minutes. Listen to the sounds, look at the views, get the vibes

5. If you haven’t bought a house yet, consider spending less on the house and then add what you can spend on an additional sunroom and HAVE IT YOUR WAY from the start.
